2011 Miami Carnival Is Almost Here

This past Saturday at Sunlife Stadium was the band launching for the 2011 Miami's Carnival. A lot of bands showcased their carnival costumes but there were still a few who didn't. From what I saw the costumes looked very nice but still have a ways to go before carnival arrives. On sunday I got invited to Sizwe C video launch and while their I saw Melissa who I met at the band launch. She was rocking her costume from Carnival Ascension and I had to get a few pics of her. We did a quick impromptu shoot and below are two of the images. There are more images from the impromptu shoot but Im photographing a Carnival Series so you have to wait until October to see more of them. If you're a band in this year 2011 Miami Carnival and would like to volunteer your costume for a shoot send me and email. Thanks to Melissa, Jo-Ann, Carlos and Kris & Will from Carnival Ascension. Art Walk Miami

Every second Saturday dozens of the independent galleries in the Wynwood Art District open their doors for Art Walk, each venue offering their own exhibitions, entertainment, refreshments and vibes. Participating galleries open their doors around 4pm and stay open until 9 p.m. or later, giving visitors a chance to wander to many of the galleries located in the blocks between NW 20th and NW 36th Streets west of N. Miami Avenue. It's hard to get to all of the venues unless you plan to spend majority of your night walking. Art walk is a great way to meet local artist and to be inspired if you're an artist yourself. Support the ARTS

Jamaica Carnival 2011

It's been well over ten years that I last experience Jamaica's carnival so I was well overdue. Around 10am I met up with my favorite Jamaican photographer Dwayne Watkins and his assistant Steven. From there we were off to a very adventurous day. We started out with the intention of only marching halfway but the carnival vibe hit us early and we couldn't seem to break away. I was warned that it normally rains every year for Jamaica's carnival and yes this year was no exception. Luckily my camera bag has a rain coat; however, the down pour was so hard we had to seek shelter. Eventually the rain passed and it was back on the road again. Continuing on the journey I met up with Dj Bambino & Dj Walshy Fire and this is where the fun began. Deciding that we needed a bit more vibes Dj Bambino took over a truck and tore the place down playing all the soca favorites. I must add that I'm very impressed with this year's soca and next year God willing I will try for Trinidad's carnival.

Jackie Maternity Shoot

This weekend I had the pleasure of shooting Maternity photos for Jackie who was referred to me by my friend Ricardo. Jackie and her husband were great and I thank them for the opportunity. I also thank them for allowing me to shoot a few shots that wouldn't be considered the norm in this type of photography. Below are two of my favorite shots from the shoot.

The Clappers Video

Special thanks to Collin who gave up his sunday to help me shoot and edit it. Special thanks to Aisha for her cameo on such short notice. Thanks to the Church for spot light. Thanks to Homer for the empty warehouse. Thanks to Gisel for helping me with the design for the t-shirt. This video is strictly for entertainment purposes. Clappers Video Shoot

Trever Off Key is at it again. This time with Clappers which is his version of Bruno Mars "Grenade". Initially there was no intention to shoot a video for this song but the request from facebook was enormous. The video was shot in Miami and we had a lot of fun shooting this video. Our two man production team spent just as much time laughing as we did shooting. Look out for the video coming soon and look out for the shirt that will be made available for purchase soon. Thanks for all your help Collin, thanks for lending us the keyboard Vinny, thanks for the location Homer and thanks Aisha for your cameo.

The Story of Baby FLUFF

The story of two year old Baby Fluff started when Dj Bambino was playing at a function in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Baby Fluff mother told Bambino that Baby Fluff would dance if he played a certain song. After playing the request Baby Fluff had the crowd dancing to her moves and was a crowd favorite for the night. A couple months later we revisited Montego Bay and ran into Baby Fluff. This time we were greeted by a foul mouth Baby Fluff. Curse words after curse words were all we heard from Baby Fluff after trying to say hi to her. We were all shock to hear the words coming out of Baby Fluff mouth as her Mom stood alongside her and did nothing. These are not words that should be coming from a two year old but needless to say I found it very humorous.

Hope you enjoy Baby Fluff [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cq1wWLrt_4Y]
