Expose yourself to a new reality. Things aren't always what they seem. You see people who you think you know and make assumptions about who they are. Do you know how they got there, do you know there struggles, do you know they hustles? Who are we to judge and place a steriotype against them, without knowing who they really are. Expose is a short documentary style film that takes you into the lives of a few individuals and shows that there is more to them than what you see. Things aren't always as they seem. Exposing their lives, the truth and the untold. Expose is also a party that will take place on January 29th 2011 at Chu's which is located at 2728 Ponce De Leon Blvd. Coral Gables FL, 33134. The main purpose of this event is to have a great time but also to raise the necessary funds to edit the short documentary. Zj Bambino from Jamaica's Zipfm (same guy who brought you songs like Miss My Cooking and Fake Jeans Admit It) will be in spinning your favorite songs along with Addy from Eccentrix Sound. The event will start at 11pm and continue to 4am. Thanks in advance for your support and let us look forward to a great and productive 2011.

Happy New Year
Happy 2011 everyone. Hope this year will bring blessings in abundance for us all. The holiday was no vacation for me. I was busy filming my project and I got the chance to do 1 photoshoot. This was no ordinary photoshoot but it's now in the past and on to the next one. If you're interested in shooting with me feel free to drop me a line. The attached video is just a preview of what to expect for 2011. Special thanks to everyone involved: Nicole (owe u Big Time) Gian, Shari, Jason, Trever Off Key and the Police Officers.[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpkeFKKXuBM]
Christmas Eve at Coronation Market
This Christmas Eve I found myself in a different environment than I'm used to. I got to see artist like Trever Off Key, Tifa, Ding Dong and Gyptian give back to the community by doing free concerts with Digicel. I got a little chance to step off the path normally walked and take some other shots. Below is a few of the results. Merry Christmas.
The Prime Minister of Jamaica
Air Jamaica- The travel nightmare
Traveling Air Jamaica is not the same anymore. My flight was schedule to depart at 9:15pm and of course we were delayed. If you travel on Air Jamaica often that is expected, some of us have started calling the airline Air Delay. Now I love my Jamaican people but we do not function well with air delays and that can bring out the hidden ghetto in some of us. Around 11pm we finally took off. We arrived in Kingston Jamaica around 12:20am and didn't clear custom till around 1am. Got to the luggage area to find out that most of the luggage on our flight didn't make it. Of course I was pissed and on top of that I had to wait in line for almost another hour to fill out paper work. After filling out the paper work I was on my way out where I was greeted by the funny guy. Now all I have with me is my book bag and he wanted to know what was in the book bag on my back. After revealing the content to the custom officer he wanted to have me leave a deposit for all the content (photography related) in the bag. At that moment I wanted to bitch slap him but realize I was in no position to win this battle so I had to play along. I was able to use my John Legend pass and he allowed me to leave. I finally made it home about 3am and I praying my bag arrive today. Feel free to pray for me as well.

The Chu's Experience
If you haven't visited Chu's Taiwanese Kitchen and Bar in Coral Gables you are definitely missing out. Chu's Restaurant and Kitchen specializes in Gourmet Taiwanese Cuisine. Their high level of culinary standards continuously elevate them about the competition. The world renowned chef, OA Chu has made it his duty to have his ingredients specially imported from Taiwan to guarantee the true authenticity of his Taiwanese creations. On Saturday I had dinner at Chu's where I tried their Snapper Supreme, which is a crispy fillet of snapper sprinkled with succulent sweet ginger sauce, topped with crunchy shredded potato. I dont know any other way to put it but, "the rass fish was good" the best I ever had in South Florida. Another delightful treat is their Chuito (Mojito), which has a little splash of lychee flavor to it. The service was immaculate and the vibe one to revisit.

Doritos Ad Competition
I recently found out about Doritos Ad competition for the Super Bowl and immediately got to work. With the last minute help from my friends I was able to create two ads that I submitted. For the "Doritos Rescue Ad" I would like to thank Fatz, Xavier, Maria, Regina, Jenna and Collin for helping to make this happen with such short notice. It took swimming in very cold water on several different attempts to make this happen and again I just want to say Thanks. Below is a link where you can view the ad http://www.crashthesuperbowl.com/#/gallery?video=7528
For the "Eaters Ad" I would like to thank Fatz, Collin, Xavier, Aniela, Jo-Ann, Slim City, Startimekid and Stanley who all responded on such short notice. I had a blast filming this and everyone was great. Thanks once again. Below is a link to view the Ad. http://www.crashthesuperbowl.com/#/gallery?video=7677
Last but not least I would like to thank that one special person who is always pushing me to create and create at my Best.
Miami Carnival 2010
This year Miami Carnival was held at Sun Life Stadium. I like the location because its very central for most folks. I was unable to see the bands once I paid to go inside the park due to the setup and being blocked off. Other than what I considered a bad setup inside the park, carnival weekend was very good.
Motivation Opportunity Vision Entertainment
In my previous post I spoke about M.O.V.E - Motivation, Opportunity, Vision, Entertainment. "MOVE", represents our generations ability to bring change and innovation to the way we give back to our communities. MOVE is inspiration, MOVE is innovation MOVE is change, and change is needed. Nicole Johnson, founder and creative director of Javanna Productions presented a choreography showcase entitled Move For Autism (MFA). MFA premiered in the Professional Performing Arts School Auditorium with a cast of 20 students from all different walks of life. Javanna Productions is working with Autism Speaks, the world's renowned autism advocacy organization that sponsors autism research and conducts awareness and outreach activities aimed at families, governments and communities. Together with Nicole we created a short video for M.O.V.E and we hope you enjoy it. When we move the sky is the limit and I hope our movement can serve as inspiration for others wanting to move.
Special Thanks to Collin Williams, K2O Studios, Tish :) Vj Elite, and Miss Gordon-Whyte. http://www.rogerbstillz.com [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJttJDwQZ4k]
M.O.V.E- Motivation, Opportunity, Vision, Entertainment
This past weekend I had the privilege of working with a very talented young lady by the name if Nicole Johnson. We set out to create a dance video for her organization called M.O.V.E = Motivation-Opportunity-Vision-Entertainment. Move is an effort that promotes awareness and raises funds for rising issues. It's also an effort that provides today's generation and generations to come with brotherly responsibility. By giving back to our communities and serving as our brothers keepers we are removing the attention from ourselves and learning to uplift. Uplifting each other leads us to our ultimate goal of a genuine united community. When I move the sky is the limit and I hope my movement can serve as inspiration for others wanting to move.
Below are some images taken from video clips. Stay tuned for the finished product coming soon. http://www.rogerbstillz.com
Fake Jeans Admit It
1st I brought you the "Miss My Cooking" video. I'm proud to say that I'm back with another one. This one is called "Fake Jeans Admit It" staring Trever Off-Key ft. Chedda. While watching these videos keep in mind they are strictly for entertainment purposes. The song Fake Jeans Admit is getting a lot of rotation on the air waves in Jamaica so we decided to put some visuals to it. The video was shot in downtown kingston without any form of planning. We spent about 3hrs filming and having fun for this video. Special thanks to all those who were apart of making this happen. Big shout out to the kid who was selling CD's with the boom box who saved the day. Big up Scuff, Chedda and his crew, Ryan, the sexy Police Officer,Burger and Collin the editor. In life sometimes the most important thing is showing up and that's what we did. Here is the final product. I hope you enjoy. GIANT B[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x63V69skc9w]
FULLY LOADED THE CLIMAX
Tonight FULLY LOADED was loaded with surprises, but the ultimate performance was when Bounty Killer invited Beenie Man on stage showing dancehall unity. At one point, Bambino who already played his set and sang A cappella for the ladies as Trever Off-Key, dared the Dj's to sing each others songs. The rest is history.
Miss My Cooking by Trever Off-Key
I have a passion for creating things in the visual format. Lately that visual format has been mostly with pictures. Technology has bridge that gap for me, so now I can shoot either pictures or video on the same camera with the switch of a button. With that said, I would like to share my first little project featuring Trever Off-Key in the premiere of his new video "Miss My Cooking" directed by Roger B Stillz. There was no real preparation for this video. The kitchen scene was shot an hour before I had to leave for the airport and the driving scene was shot while we would drive to where ever we were going. I used only available light, the Canon 5d, Trever's sense of humor and most of this was shot hand held. The video was edited by my friend Collin (Thank you Collin). If you don't know Trever Off-Key aka Zj Bambino make sure you listen to him in the mornings on http://www.zipfm.net from Tuesday-Friday 6am-10am. Hope you were Entertained http://www.rogerbstillz.com

There is no place like JAMAICA
I spent the 4th of July holiday weekend in Kingston, Jamaica. Despite all the recent negative images floating around the web and in the media about Jamaica, I still think it's one of the best places in the world. The thought of me heading back to the states and leaving Jamaica always have me feeling down. For some reason when I'm in Jamaica I forget about problems I may have back home. The states offer us a lot of conveniences but at the same time I feel we neglect certain core values that many of us in the islands grew up with. Values such as spending time with family and friends. We are so caught up in the states with making it that we forget these important values at times. I'm sure many of us in the states don't really know our neighbors and its not that we wouldn't want to but we don't have the time. There is no place like the island of Jamaica and it's people and that's where my next project will take you so be on the look out for it. Where we love is home. Home that our feet may leave, but not our hearts.

American Black Film Festival 2010
The American Black Film Festival (ABFF) took place this past weekend and I had the pleasure of attending. The festival is dedicated to strengthening the Black filmmaking community through resource sharing, education, artistic collaboration and career development. The festival offered me the chance to network with those of similar interest and passion for the art of film making. It also served as motivation after watching the HBO Short Film Competition. If you get a chance to check out the shorts make sure you don't miss out on the opportunity. The titles for the shorts are: If I Leap Moth Say Grace Before Drowning Stag and Doe The Cycle
I also got to watch the movie "Takers" which is a must see. The cast includes Chris Brown, T.I, Idris Elba, and others. Make sure you look out for Spike Lee follow up to When The Levees Broke which airs on HBO in August
Silent Auction For Miami Heart Gallery
Yesterday I had the pleasure of visiting the silent auction for the Miami Heart Gallery. The Heart Gallery is a series of traveling photographic and multimedia exhibits created to find forever families for children in foster care. The Heart Gallery of America is a collaborative project of over 120 Heart Galleries across the United States (and growing) designed to increase the number of adoptive families for children needing homes in our community. The Heart Gallery model is being replicated in many communities across the country. A friend of mine (Leonette) reached out to me asking I would like to participate by donating one of my photographs for the auction. I agreed and donated my photographed titled "Change." Change was captured back in 2008 at one of Barack Obama rallies that I attended. I'm not sure who the final bid went to but I do hope they enjoy the image as much as I do. Change will be a limited edition print. If you would like a print for your own personal collection feel free to contact me.
You too can volunteer or donate by visiting there website at www.miamiheartgallery.org
Commissioned Work
I just wanted to share one of the many great shots I captured this weekend. Special thanks to my client and the model. I hope they are as enthused about the shots we captured as I am. I will leave you with this thought: Do not wait. The time will never be "just right" Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along. Stay tuned for more greatness and have a great week.
