No Guarantees In Love
I'm a big fan of Rob Hill Sr. His words provided the inspiration for this visual. Thanks to Brett, Infinity Concierge, and Doral Luxury Motors for letting me play with the Lamborghini. With only about two hours to spear with the Lamborghini I got a few shots in and the result is what you see below. It doesn't always have to be perfect, but you do have to show up and showing up is half the battle. Thanks Collin and thanks Jo-Ann. If you have a dream go after it. Don't sit around and wait for things to happen go out and make them happen. Watch your thoughts they become words. Watch your words they become actions. Watch your actions they become habits. Watch your habits they become character. Watch your character it becomes your destiny.

Dwayne Nelson - Gone But Not Forgotten
Last year this time i woke up to some disturbing news that my good friend Dwayne Nelson was murdered in Kingston, Jamaica. Dwayne was a great friend of mine and I'm sure many can say the same. I was fortunate to have met such an outstanding individual and he will truly be missed. I shared a lot of great memories with Dwayne. One of the many things I admired about him was his musical talent and you had to really know him to knew such a talent existed with him. Dwayne had numerous songs written in his memory and walked around with them engraved in his brain. I was always amazed by how he could create such art and not even put the pen to the paper. He had a song called Strange Land that I had him read to me so I could write it down. What follows are some lines from the song: I'm living in a strange land with strange faces, seen so many strange things in strange places, Feel like a stranger, always felt my life was in danger, but now I get to understand how things changes, I sit to make a plan and it rearranges.
I interviewed Dwayne for a project of mine that didn't really manifest. The video below contain excerpts from that interview and interviews conducted the day we found out he passed away. For many this will provide a chance of seeing and hearing his voice again. For others it could be painful. Until we meet again my friend I wont give up along the way and I hope I would have been as successful as you in touching the lives of others.

Doritos Ad Competition
I recently found out about Doritos Ad competition for the Super Bowl and immediately got to work. With the last minute help from my friends I was able to create two ads that I submitted. For the "Doritos Rescue Ad" I would like to thank Fatz, Xavier, Maria, Regina, Jenna and Collin for helping to make this happen with such short notice. It took swimming in very cold water on several different attempts to make this happen and again I just want to say Thanks. Below is a link where you can view the ad http://www.crashthesuperbowl.com/#/gallery?video=7528
For the "Eaters Ad" I would like to thank Fatz, Collin, Xavier, Aniela, Jo-Ann, Slim City, Startimekid and Stanley who all responded on such short notice. M.O.V.E- Motivation, Opportunity, Vision, Entertainment
This past weekend I had the privilege of working with a very talented young lady by the name if Nicole Johnson. We set out to create a dance video for her organization called M.O.V.E = Motivation-Opportunity-Vision-Entertainment. Move is an effort that promotes awareness and raises funds for rising issues. It's also an effort that provides today's generation and generations to come with brotherly responsibility. By giving back to our communities and serving as our brothers keepers we are removing the attention from ourselves and learning to uplift. Uplifting each other leads us to our ultimate goal of a genuine united community. When I move the sky is the limit and I hope my movement can serve as inspiration for others wanting to move.
Below are some images taken from video clips. Stay tuned for the finished product coming soon. http://www.rogerbstillz.com
Commissioned Work
I just wanted to share one of the many great shots I captured this weekend. Special thanks to my client and the model. I hope they are as enthused about the shots we captured as I am. I will leave you with this thought: Do not wait. The time will never be "just right" Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along. Stay tuned for more greatness and have a great week.
Nothing Ventured nothing gained.
The story for the image below is a simple one. My original idea for the shot came from a fellow photographer by the name of Bettina Rheims. If you haven't seen her work make sure you check it out. After seeing her shot I immediately thought of my version. Not sure how this one will be perceived but I'm interested in the feed back. I must warn you that if you take my images too seriously you will hate me. I would like to thank my model for thinking outside the box, special thanks to my make-up artist Clivia and thanks to the police officer for not arresting us for indecent exposure.

Ring Around The Moon
Last night around 11:30pm my friend sent me a text saying go outside and look at the ring around the moon. At first I thought it was just some form of prank, but my curiosity got the best of me and I went outside and took a look. When I got outside what I saw in the sky was a wonderful ring around the moon. This is considered a lunar halo or possibly a lunar corona. A lunar halo is caused by the refraction, reflection, and dispersion of light through ice particles suspended within thin, wispy, high altitude cirrus or cirrostratus clouds. As light passes through these hexagon-shaped ice crystals, it is bent at a 22 degree angle, creating a halo 22 degrees in radius (or 44 degrees in diameter). A double halo, sometimes with spokes, may be seen on rare occasions when light reflects off water or ice. The phenomenon of a lunar halo is similar to a rainbow produced by sunlight and rain falling between your eye and the sun.
Halloween Weekend
I hope everyone had a fun filled Halloween weekend. For about a little over two weeks I was without my camera and I must say I went through camera withdraw if there is such a thing. I was very excited to have it back in my possession and immediately I went out shooting. Below are two of my favorite pictures I took this weekend. The pictures are of dancehall artist Buju Banton taken at the James L. Knight Center. Special thanks to Scuffery. www.rogerbstillz.com
About ART AXIS
We are two weeks away from ART AXIS. ART AXIS is an Art Exhibition benefiting the Children's Home Society of Florida. Abused. Abandoned. Forgotten. These are the children, The Children's Home Society of Florida protects, guides, and loves. It’s through the generosity of our caring friends that they are able to change children’s lives and transform our communities. But recent governmental cuts have already reduced funding to Florida’s child protection services by nearly $19 million. As the tough economy challenges families and increases burdens on overwhelmed parents and their innocent children, they need our support more than ever.
At ART AXIS we will be collecting donations & 100% of the donations will go to the Children's Home Society of Florida, the artists will also give 20% from any sales during the event. No donation is considered too small & if you cant afford to donate money feel free to look up a charity organization and donate your time. Its time for us to start giving back to our communities, so lets all get involved.
ART AXIS will feature my photography along with Phil Fung, Josafat Miranda and Newton Wallace and is curated by Ada Balcacer.
The works can be viewed at: www.rogerbstillz.com www.philfung.com flickr: Josafat Miranda www.artistsites.org/luminor13 www.abrogallery.com

Bombs Away
It's been a while since I've done a shoot because I've been on the road traveling lately. On my way to the shoot when Im getting off the exit I heard a noise when I hit my brakes; I'm like how could this be? I just got my brakes replaced during the week. I kept driving a bit but that wasn't working out so I had to pull over and park my car. What a way to start off the shoot right? Anyways the shoot had to go on so I just called the tow truck while shooting because we all know they take forever to get to you. So finally I'm shooting this idea that I had in my mind for the longest and now I have it in the physical to show :) I haven't started editing the pictures yet and Im please to say I like the look of things so far. I must thank my makeup artist Clivia who is always on time and I hope she keeps it up :) thanks to my model Dominique and the stylist Jazmane who did a great job of what we had to work with. I don't think that the black booths gonna make the cut though Jazmane lol. Thanks to everyone for making my idea come to life. Pictures will be posted soon so stay tuned to my website www.rogerbstillz.com
Why they look like that I don't know LOL Maybe because it was very HOT when we were shooting :)
Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there and to the fathers that play the role as a mother :)

Making what you have Work
My day started off cleaning up then I decided to link my friend JusBus to go and scout a location for an upcoming shoot we are planning. When we got to the location to my disbelief the entire warehouse was demolish. This is a warehouse that I have shot in on numerous occasion and now its totally gone. To say the least that i was disappointed is an under statement but as we all know life is about adapting and moving on. I decide to check another location and its the journey to and from that location that presented my opportunities. I'm sure we have all heard the phrase "when one door closes another one opens" well that seems to be the case today. Everywhere we turned today we found the opportunity of creating great images. Being prepared in any scenario is the ultimate, but working with what you got and making what you got work is Talent. Often times we say that if we only had this we could do this but in reality half of the times we really dont need all the extras. Some of the most celebrate images we admire were created with point and shoot cameras. So instead of waiting to get that dream camera that you always wanted get out and start shooting and this applies to any craft. Start making what you have work. The images below were created today with the bare minimum meaning just the camera, my eye and the sun.
Thanks to JusBus for the inspiration today. If you're just getting into photography check out the work of Annie Leibovitz who also helped inspire me today. www.rogerbstillz.com
