The Iron Lady

I took aim at what I call remixing an image by Tyler Shields who is one of my favorite photographers. Basically my version of his image. For this shot I was able to work with the adventurous Chelsea who was very open minded to even consider the thought of creating this image. Thanks Chelsea. An artist cannot fail; it is a success to be one.

Dwayne Nelson - Gone But Not Forgotten

Last year this time i woke up to some disturbing news that my good friend Dwayne Nelson was murdered in Kingston, Jamaica. Dwayne was a great friend of mine and I'm sure many can say the same. I was fortunate to have met such an outstanding individual and he will truly be missed. I shared a lot of great memories with Dwayne. One of the many things I admired about him was his musical talent and you had to really know him to knew such a talent existed with him. Dwayne had numerous songs written in his memory and walked around with them engraved in his brain. I was always amazed by how he could create such art and not even put the pen to the paper. He had a song called Strange Land that I had him read to me so I could write it down. What follows are some lines from the song: I'm living in a strange land with strange faces, seen so many strange things in strange places, Feel like a stranger, always felt my life was in danger, but now I get to understand how things changes, I sit to make a plan and it rearranges.

I interviewed Dwayne for a project of mine that didn't really manifest. The video below contain excerpts from that interview and interviews conducted the day we found out he passed away. For many this will provide a chance of seeing and hearing his voice again. For others it could be painful. Until we meet again my friend I wont give up along the way and I hope I would have been as successful as you in touching the lives of others.

Carnival Queen Arrested

The caribbean community is South FLorida has one thing on their minds for this weekend and that is Carnival. Carnival as it is celebrated in Trinidad and Tobago is also celebrated in cities worldwide. As with other Carnivals, many participants wear elaborate costumes, often decorated with feathers and sequins. Carnival bands are organized groups made up of participants who pay for costumes fashioned by a designer and assembled by teams of volunteers. The costumed participants dance through the streets to the sounds of a steel band, a soca band or a d.j. - this is called "playing mas'". The image below was inspired by carnival but with my twist to it. The image was captured in Kingston Jamaica at Coronation Market. I have to say that this was one of my craziest shoots to date. I will be revealing a few more pics so stay tuned.

If you're playing Mas in Miami carnival and would like to participate in my on going carnival costume shoot please try and save your costume with head piece and send me an email letting me know you would like to be apart of the project. Unfortunately I will not be in town for Miami Carnival on Sunday so I will miss my ritual of photographing the event.

Prostitute Gets Paid Using The Square

This is my 2nd installment of my Square/Box Project and this time instead of a homeless guy we are faced with a prostitute. Incase you haven't read my first post regarding this subject matter let me get you up to speed. One afternoon at Art Walk in the Design District I had to make a purchase. I’m not the type to really walk with cash I’m more your card person. Not sure if I would be able to make a purchase without having cash on me but that afternoon I was in luck. After placing my order I expected to see your average credit card machine that you would normally see in the stores. However, the young lady pulled out her Iphone, swiped my card using the iphone and I signed using her iphone. A receipt was then emailed me to.

I was so amazed at what just took place and I thought this was the coolest thing. Immediately my mind starting getting ideas. Ideas like imagine if I homeless person had possession of this (my first video) or what if a prostitute had possession of this?

If you’re in business The Square might just be the App for you. The video below shows a prostitute using The Square/Box and shares some advantage of using this mobile app. Stay tuned for part three where I show you how a Pharmaceutical Street Engineer puts The Square/Box to use.

Homeless Gets Paid With Square/Box

One afternoon at Art Walk in the Design District I had to make a purchase. Now I'm not the type to really walk with cash I'm more your card person. Ideas like imagine if I prostitute had possession of this, imagine if a drug dealer had possession of this and imagine if a homeless person had possession of this. Now I'm sure we have all been approached by a homeless person asking for change and we tell them "I don't have any change/cash on me" well what if they replied I accept credit cards lol What would your reply be?

If you're in business The Square might just be the App for you. It comes with one simple rate of 2.75% per swipe on all cards, next day payout with automatic direct deposits to your bank account. The setup process takes five minutes or less so you can take your first credit card payment in minutes. A Spontaneous Shoot

One of my goals when I shoot is to create a image that will live forever in the mind of my viewers. I get no satisfaction from shooting the norm unless you're paying me. There are a lot of nice pictures taken but if you can't visually recall them what good was the image? I like for my images to evoke some form of emotion or response. Some of these responses range from "what the fuck" to "only Roger B could think this up." There is a saying that states Seeing is Believing but for me Believing is Seeing. I see the image in my head way before I even look through my camera. If I can think it then I can shoot it.

Start stepping out the box folks. Be DARING, be DIFFERENT, be impractical, be anything that will assert integrity of purpose & imaginative vision against the play-it-safers, the creatures of the commonplace, the slaves of the ordinary.

World Premiere --Official Music Video for Good Ole Bike

The Good Ole Bike music video was filmed in Negril,Jamaica during ATI weekend and South Florida. The video was suppose to be shot the saturday of ATI weekend but due to heavy rains we had to push the shoot to sunday. Sunday turned out to be the better day to shoot because we were blessed with the riders you see in the video. ATI/Dream weekend is a very busy weekend in Negril to get around with a car so we decided this would be a fun weekend to film Good Ole Bike since that was our mode of transportation. If it wasn't for our Good Ole Bike it would have taken us hours to travel five miles due to all the traffic. Thanks to everyone who lent their support: Scuf, Jason, Theo, Mandi, Sophia, Johnathan, Jeremy, Vivian, Carlos, Collin and Gizelle. I hope you all enjoy the video. The Pit Stop

In this episode of Bambino's World we were on our way to Junction, St. Elizabeth to play at a dance. While driving we encountered a long stretch of road that was very lonely. Dj Bambino was in serious need of a bathroom and we weren't exactly close to the hotel. Realizing that he may not be able to make it to the hotel in time we had to turn around and head back to a shop we passed along the way. When we made it to the shop Bambino asked if they had a rest room and they directed him to the out house bathroom. Now I haven't seen one of these since I was a child. As a child I was scared the few times I had to use that thing because I always thought that I was going to fall into it. The ones I used back in the days didn't have a actual toilet seat like the one in the video so to Bambino this was like heaven especially when he had to let one go. Luckily we didn't encounter any serious pot holes on the way back to the shop or else this video could have had a different ending. [youtube=http://youtu.be/unEmkDKviJI]
